Free Spirit Gathering 2001 Trip Report

This festival is held in Camp Ramblewood in Darlington, MD. It is a wonderful site and a great festival! There were many Druids there and many interesting workshops. I gave two workshops there, "Getting In Touch with Your Land" and "The Way of the Trees." Both were well received.

I also had ADF Regalia for sale there but met with disappointing sales, only $55 worth. A high point for me was being asked to join the Council of Elders for the gathering. Councils of Elders are being formed at many of the festivals now and I belong to both this one and the one for Starwood.

This festival's focus was on the fact that everyone is a 'star' and the main ritual, as well as the opening and closing rituals revolved around creating a 'web of stars'. Due to heavy rain, the main portion of the main Saturday ritual had to be held in the dance pavilion but it worked out very well.

Clicking on any of the pictures below will bring up a large (640 X 480) version of the picture.

Part of the ADF Regalia booth. With the heavy rain, the pavilion came in handy!

Some of the banners in Druid Camp. These are from Cedar Light Grove and Raven Hawk Protogrove.

This is the main fire dancing circle with a drum warming circle. Nice idea!
